Project 3: Simultaneous Contrast

Project 3: Simultaneous Contrast

The first design shows one color that looks like two. The blue that is surrounded by the light orange appears darker and brighter because it is put against a lighter background of its complimentary color. The blue that is on the darker blue background appears lighter and less saturated than the blue surrounded in the orange because it is on a darker, more saturated background.

The second design features two colors looking like one. Before putting them on their backgrounds, the blue on the left was bluer than the blue on the right. The blue on the right was greener. After using the backgrounds, the blue on the right looks less green because it is on a very saturated green background. It is also put on a slightly lighter background to make the blue appear darker.
